The peninsula can be reached by boat in approximately one hour. Sarodrano is a desert-like habitat with constantly moving dunes. Thorn bush forests, the typical didiereaceae as well as the now rare mangrove forests shape the landscape. We visit the idyllic Vezo fishing village Sarodrano.

Nosy Ve: Sailing trip to the nature reserve

With the trimaran, you will discover and photograph flamingos or the nests of the Humblot heron at close distance - first, at the cliffs of St. Augustin, later on, the island Nosy Ve. After a picnic, you will hit sails back home to the lodge. From July to October, you will also see humpback whales and dolphins.

This half-day trip will turn back time: The trimaran “Matlai” will bring you to places of discovery, where sub-fossil egg pieces of the extinct giant ostrich, “Aepyornis Maximus”, can be still found today. The many graves in the bay of Saint Augustin remind of the time where sailors, pirates, adventurers and slaves dominated the scene.

Visit the biodiverse mangrove forest

With the trimaran, you will sail to this unique ecosystem in the bay of Saint Augustin. Here, you will find the propagating mangroves. Only a few land plants survive in the hostile seawater environment. The endangered mangrove forests contribute to the wealth of fish and assume an important protective function for coastal regions.
